French f.v.'Marie Louise Berthe'

12 March 2008 - The St. Peter Port lifeboat responded to the sighting of a liferaft off the Brayes to the North of Guernsey March 12th 2008. The raft was established to be empty and ex the French f.v.'Marie Louise Berthe' to which the St Peter Port Lifeboat had been called two days earlier. The fishing boat had sunk and the crew of 5 were saved from the water by another French boat in the vicinity before the lifeboat had arrived on scene.

23 Aug 2007 - JOHN BOUGOURD will retire as coxswain of the St Peter Port lifeboat on Sunday. He has been a member of the crew since 1980 and was made coxswain in 1996, but he celebrates his 55th birthday at the weekend, the set retirement age for the position.

Capsized kayaker thought that the lifeboat was just a dream

11 July 2006 - KAYAK capsize survivor Daniel Michel thought he was hallucinating when the lifeboat rescued him off Brecqhou. He had drifted for almost two hours and was close to drowning.

22 saved as ships collide in Channel

31 Jan 2006 - TEN of the 22 crew of a chemical tanker were rescued by St Peter Port lifeboat after a collision 28 miles north-west of Guernsey early this morning. The other 12 men from the ECE, which is registered in the Marshall Islands, were taken off by helicopter.

Lifeboat saves all five as boat sinks off Sark

6 June 2005 - FIVE local men were saved in a dramatic rescue after their boat struck rocks in the early hours of Saturday. John Vaudin, 37, and four friends spent 45 minutes clinging to the drifting, sinking 28ft Whisky Asset off the north coast of Sark.

‘I would like to thank the lifeboat crew and emergency services for doing a wonderful job and saving us,’ said a relieved Mr Vaudin later on Saturday.

Local sale of £10,000 Faberge egg will raise funds for the lifeboat

25 Jan 2005 - A SPECIALLY-COMMISSIONED Faberge egg worth ‘10,000 will be on sale in Guernsey next month to raise money for the RNLI. Jeweller Theo Faberge was commissioned by the institution to produce 50 eggs to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar.

Lifeboat rescues drifting Dolphin

8 July 2004 - TWO men were rescued by lifeboat off the west coast yesterday. St Peter Port Radio received a call at 2.25pm from Dolphin of Dee which was drifting off the Hanois lighthouse with no engine and two people on board.

The owner of the 40-year-old 30ft vessel, Mark Barrett, 43, was bringing it back on its final leg of a journey from Strangford Lough, near Belfast, having bought it there. Claude Van Martyn, who is experienced with boat deliveries, joined him on board.

They were initially in the middle of Mount Bay, between Land’s End and Penzance, when the port-side tank blocked on Tuesday morning.
